Not only does it have great stats for a red creature as a 3/3, but it also 1) triggers every time it or another Kavu enters, 2) has warp, so you can get an extra card off of it when you have two mana, and 3) lets you play the card at any time, not just the turn it's exiled, so long as you control a Kavu

There are said to be another 17 on offer in booster boxes as box toppers, or in Collectors boosters in both non-foil and etched-foil editions
(The card wouldn't work at all otherwise.) This is a very broadly-applicable rule, which applies to any card with an activated or triggered ability that references information about itself when it resolves
But the innovation and inclusion of the first relic and autograph cards were the real game changer
