Grading tends to make sense when: The card is high-value enough that a PSA 9 or 10 grade could meaningfully increase its market price You're buying a card specifically to resell and the graded premium in that card's market is well-established The card is a vintage chase card Base Set Charizard, Shadowless holos, early Japanese promos where condition grades dramatically affect value You want authenticated proof of authenticity for an expensive purchase For most modern cards and budget singles, buying raw is a better use of your money
