ANCIENT ROMAN/MEDIEVAL EVIL EYE RING, 4TH-8TH CENTURY AD, SIZE 5 ¼ medieval with rounded bandSilvered bronze. Rounded face band 4. 1mm width. Elongated stepped bezel in the form of a squinting eye. It was believed that the evil eye or evil glance could cause misfortune and that it was necessary to employ protection in the form of an amulet or ring which could repel the evil. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver surface restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
